Essex Police Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Training

Last week we completed three back to back training programmes for the Essex Police and Police Marine Unit. Each Team attended the centre for 4 days training to gain their Rescue 3 certification as  ‘Swift water and Flood Rescue Technicians’.

As a training provider for Rescue 3 Europe (part of Rescue 3 International), Live the Adventure is able to offer the only internationally recognised certification in rescue and this is the same level of training completed worldwide for the emergency services, rescue teams, guides and commercial operations.

With a hot week for wearing drysuits, it was no effort encouraging the participants to enter the water to train in rescue techniques, including a range of boat, rope and swimmer based rescues for swift water and flood operations. The final day saw them carry out a number of rescues as part of a scenario based exercise, with me playing casualty, and as I am now writing this after – they were all obviously carried out with great success and most importantly safely.

A big thanks to the input and effort from all of the teams as they worked so well in the water environment making sensible decisions and ensuring safe methods of rescue.

We have a few more closed courses lined up over the next few weeks for West Midands Search and Rescue and Severn Area Rescue. In addition to this we have some open courses that individuals can attend lined up for September with places already taken by a number of fire and police teams, but still places available if anyone is interested. We also have dates down for other Rescue 3 courses including responder, white water rescue technician and flood boat courses.

For now its time to put the shorts on and make the most of the dry weather!
