After a very successful 4 day show at London Excel its time to sort through the emails.

A big thanks to all that attended and it was great to see some of our previous Academy students and International guide students and catch up with what you are all doing.

Over the course of the 4 days Anthony and Gerry presented twice on each of the three stages : Telegraph Adventure Travel Stage, Climb and Adventure stage and the Careers stage. A big thanks to those that came and listened and those that came to have a chat with us after the presentations and over the course of the show on our stand.

We used the show as a platform to illustrate the growing trend to work in the Adventure industry. For many of you there it looks as though a career in the outdoors is a possible career change or a dream you want to turn into a reality and it is no longer just a summer job for young people as our presentations illustrated.

Our stand highlighted the career courses we run to meet this growing demand. Our UK ‘Outdoor Instructors Academy’ is very well established in the market place for just this and those wanting a Career move into Coaching and Instructing. It’s low ratio’s ensures high quality results using our 25 years experience to provide a course that looks into all career options in the industry.

We also used the show to launch the new ‘Adventure Travel Career Training’ courses we run in the Himalayas each year. These courses are designed to meet the industry needs, to produce high quality commercial guides for travel companies and commercial outfitters and to offer individuals a range of professional training programmes to work as adventure travel guides.  This 4 week programme is run each Autumn in Nepal the epicentre for adventure travel and is split into two modules each lasting two weeks.

The first module is our existing established and industry recognised ‘International River Guide Training’ programme that has produced professional guides now operating around the world. The second module is the new ‘Adventure Travel Leadership’ course (boots, bikes and boats!) focusing on generic guide skills incorporating trekking and mountain biking in the Annapurna mountain region and fundamental kayak skills. Both modules are written, directed and run by Gerry and Anthony with a combined 60 years of International guiding experience. We know there is no other course with this level of knowledge on the market producing such high quality guides. To add to this we are currently the training provider in Nepal and Bhutan for the local operators to gain this level of knowledge and certification as well as being approached by many western travel operators for training programmes.

Many of you came to discuss courses and took information away. We are aware that for many of you it’s a big decision to make so feel free to give us a call with any questions or to talk through any of the courses we run.

Big thanks to all that came – same place, same time next year!
