Adventure Nepal

Adventure Nepal Holiday from Live The Adventure on Vimeo.

This Nepal trip is great for someone wanting their first trip to the Himalayas and is also perfect as a family adventure holiday, providing an introduction for families, groups of friends or individuals to adventure travel. This adventure holiday in Nepal is based in the west of Nepal encompassing the very best features of this Himalayan Kingdom. One of our most popular itineraries includes a stunning 5 day Annapurna trek, staying at one the top venue’s in Chitwan National Park, an elephant safari and some of the best white-water rafting in the world. As well as the exhilaration of an Annapurna trek, safari and rafting, this adventure holiday also provides lots of opportunities for you to immerse yourself in the Nepalese culture and traditions, with time spent exploring Kathmandu and relaxing in Pokhara.

Day 1 – Arrive Kathmandu, Nepal where a member of Live the Adventure’s staff will meet you at the airport. Take a 30 minute drive into Thamel which is the main tourist area in Kathmandu. Here you will check into your hotel for the night and be briefed on plans for the following day.

Day 2 – We start our Nepal Holiday by taking a 30 minute mountain flight to Pokhara, Nepal’s beautiful lakeside town under the Annapurna range of the Himalayas. From the airport we will drive to Nayapul, the start of our trekking in Nepal. At this point we will meet our guides and team of porters who will be joining us on our trek. The Annapurna trek starts from the last road point and heads up through Bamboo forests and waterfalls into terraced farmland up to Tirkhedunga (1800m) – around a 4 hour walk. Here we will spend the night in a Tea House.

Day 3 – From Tirkhedunga, we continue our trek by walking up to Ghorepani (2800 m). The first half an hour is on a flat trail and then there is a steep ascent for around 2 hours to Ulleri. Here we will stop for lunch and then walk gradually up to Ghorepani through stunning rhododendron forests.  Spend the evening in a tea house at Ghorepani with fantastic panoramic views of the Annapurnas.

Day 4 – An early morning excursion to Poon Hill (3193 m), about an hour’s climb, provides an even better, unobstructed view of the high Himalaya at sunrise. We then walk back down for breakfast. After breakfast we head to Tadapani. The trail climbs up, leaving the high mountain forests and entering a field of cane. The morning still has fantastic 360° panoramic views from high vantage points before the trail descends steeply to a stream before climbing again through forests to Tadapani, a clutter of hotels with a dramatic view at 2540m.

Day 5 – On the fifth day of our Nepal trekking holiday, we wake for breakfast with another stunning morning view! As our Annapurna trek continues the trail descends steeply from Tadapani, through forests, a short and steep descent among rocks which leads us to a stream crossing, and then the descent continues gently past other streams, finally leading out on a ridge towards Ghandrung. Ghandrung is a huge Gurung village at 1940m, is the second-largest Gurung village in Nepal. From here you can get the views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare during our lunch stop. Continue down to Syauli Bajar and our lodge for the night on the banks of the Modi Kola River.

Day 6 – A short morning trek back to our starting point at Nayapul we catch a vehicle back to Pokhara, check into the hotel after lunch and have the afternoon at leisure in the town of Pokhara.

Day 7 – Spend a rest day exploring Pokhara and its tropical gardens, lakeside bars and restaurants, and Nepalese souvenirs. This is the ideal place to recuperate after the trek. If you’re still after a little more adventure then extra activities can be arranged. Pokhara is a paragliding paradise and a great place to take your first tandem flight. Drift gracefully from take-off at Sarangkot (1592m). Float over monasteries and the beautiful Pokhara Lake and take in the fantastic views once again of the Annapurna peaks. Or try out the world’s most extreme zip line accelerating to 100 mph as you pass above the dense forest below, see sweeping views of majestic Machapuchare, the Annapurna range and the raging Seti River. If you are interested in either of these options please let us know in advance and we can arrange to add them to your holiday.

Day 8 & 9 – Drive to the put in of the Seti River – this River is a fantastic multi day experience with warm blue water. Suitable for all abilities this is a very popular choice for rafters in Nepal. Spend the first day warming up on the bouncy class 3 water, camping overnight on the white sandy beaches in tents or under the stars – this River is completely away from roads, villages and civilisation making it a great place for a camp! The following day we enter the famous jungle corridor with only a sparse local population, this day requires a lot of team work to get through the rapids. We take out at the Trusuli River around 20 miles downstream. From here we transfer to Chitwan for the evening.

Day 10 – Wake up in one of the best Jungle Lodges deep in the Royal National Park. Enjoy an elephant safari into the community forest, passing the endless strikingly green rice paddy fields keeping your eyes peeled for the famous 1 horned rhino, only found in Nepal. Afterwards, enjoy a gentle boating safari down the peaceful Narayani River, and keep an eye out for marsh muggers or the endangered gharial crocodile resting on the banks. This is the perfect place to unwind. At night, enjoy nothing but the sound of the forest – just metres from your window.

Day 11 – Spend a morning at the elephant’s orientation site learning about the elephants. Take a short walk to the river where you will get to bathe the elephants. Paddle into the river ready to get wet, scrub the elephants clean or maybe even sit on them whilst they are bathing. After lunch pack up your things, board our bus for our onwards journey to Kathmandu via plane! Spend the evening in Kathamndu at your leisure.

Day 12 – Spend the last day of your adventure holiday in Nepal exploring Kathmandu, with its traditional buildings and hustle and bustle of everyday life and not to forgetting any last minute souvenir shopping. If you wish we can catch a taxi to visit to the famous Swayambhunath Monkey Temple just outside Thamel. In the evening we will have our farewell meal and briefing for departure day. Overnight at hotel in Thamel.

Day 13 – Fly back to UK – Departure time dependant on flights.
